Since I post how to make a Windows Vista DVD and steps to upgrade Vista, I run the windows Vista upgrade advisor installer to know my Axioo laptop have some issue or not when upgrade it.

windows-vista-upgrade-advisor

The installation pretty easy, just click twice, next and finish. Run the program and a window will opened. Just klik the button “Start Scan” and wait for several minutes. Oh I forgot, you must have an internet connection to run the advisor program.

The first issue that I must concern about the free space storage. I need 15 GB of free hard disk space to install Windows Vista on this drive and I just have 6.97 GB free space :D The advisor recommend at least 40 GB for Windows Vista and it’s really surprising me since Windows XP only need only 1.5 GB for installation and I just split my hard drive for drive C only 20GB.
vista-compatibilty

The second issued is the system memory of my Axioo laptop, they recommend me to upgrade my RAM at least 1GB to ensure optimal performance for the Windows Aeroâ„¢ user experience, TV recording, high-end gaming, photo editing, and multimedia programs. So I must add another 512MB of DDR2 and it’s around $40 per pieces.

For my CPU, DVD and video card there are no action required. As you know my CPU is Genuine Intel® CPU T2050 @ 1.60GHz Core Duo with DVD-RW. The Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset Family video card support the Windows Aeroâ„¢ user experience and it’s really suprising me since as I know Vista need higher graphic card to run Aero.

Other harware that need to update after upgrade to Vista are the realtek soudcard, realtek fast gigabut ethernet, motorola fax modem bison webcam NB Pro and the integrated flashmedia controller.

For the software there are several must be need attention for the compatibility. Sony Ericsson PC Suite, Power DVD 5, Nero BurningRom&Vision, PowerQuest Partition Magic 8.0, MSN Messenger,

Windows 7 - Next Generation of Windows

Microsoft will be release their new Windows in late 2009 called “Windows Seven”. According to Wikipedia, Windows 7 with codename Blackcomb and then Vienna confirmed by Microsoft is the internal name for the next version of the Windows Client OS.

windows seven

From first release of Windows Vista on January 2007, Windows 7 will be release on 32 bit and 64 bit version. Although the official said Windows 7 will be 64 bit, maybe we remember when Windows XP released, Windows Longhorn planned to be 64 bit version only. And now most of the PC still use 32 bit version, and I though Windows 7 will be release in 32 bit version.

windows 7

In some forum there are many opinion why the next generation of Windows call Seven. Here are the opinions why called Windows 7:
1. It’s going to take seven years to finish
2. It will be the 7th version of windows (Vista is no.6)
3. 7 as a lucky number and big release (I though 13 is a lucky number too)
4. Some one also said like this Windows Se7en.. it’s so funny!

Maybe we just wait and see when Microsoft launch their future and next generation of Windows.

Dell "E" Gets Ready to Challenge the Asus Eee PC

By kannu's on 12:03 PM

Filed Under:

The team over at Engadget managed to make friends with someone over at Dell long enough to acquire leaked information about the new Dell mini notebook: the Dell E. As if this new 8.9" mini notebook wasn't impressive enough, we've also learned that Dell will be releasing a 12.1" version of the same notebook called the "E Slim" that will directly compete against 13.3" thin notebooks like the Apple MacBook Air, Lenovo ThinkPad X300, and the new Voodoo Envy 133.

The new 8.9" Dell E (pictured above) is powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Diamondville processor and will be available in configurations with 512MB or 1GB of RAM, and your choice of 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB of flash storage (poor man's SSD). Pricing isn't available at this time but the E will be available with either Linux or Windows XP. The 8.9" display features a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, making it remarkably similar to the new HP 2133 Mini-Note and new Eee PC 900 and 901.

Editor's Note: We're excited about the new Dell E, but isn't the product name just a little too close to the Asus Eee PC? Considering the fact that Dell has had their fair share of legal troubles, you might think their brand managers could come up with a more original product name.

As if that wasn't enough, the new Dell E Slim (pictured above) looks to be a remarkable 12.1" ultra-portable notebook. The E Slim will come equipped with your choice of 1.3GHz or 1.6GHz Intel Silverthorne processors, 8GB of flash storage or a 40GB HDD, 512MB or 1GB of system RAM, and either a 3-cell or 6-cell battery. Once again consumers will have their choice of either Linux or Windows XP.

Rock Band II Revealed Via Age of Conan?!

By kannu's on 11:49 AM

Filed Under:

As bizarre as it may sound, an Age of Conan press release stated that Rock Band 2 will have at least one song from the Scandinavian rockers – Turbonegro. Now before you start fantasizing about an ‘Age of Rock Band’ or ‘Conan Rock Warrior’ or something on those lines, let me tell you that FunCom is in no way linked to the Rock Band franchise (although that would have an interesting outcome). The way this revelation
came about, is that in an effort to pimp out Turbonegro (since the band’s songs appear in the first Age of Conan soundtrack release), FunCom introduced them as the guys who made an appearance on several TV shows, "as well as the game Rock Band II."

Although it’s pretty much a given that Rock Band II would eventually be released (since the original was so successful and all), I’m sure neither studio owner MTV games nor EA are too thrilled about the way this revelation came about. Oh well, if it makes you feel better we can pretend to be surprised when you unveil the game officially, EA. Bad jokes apart, I can’t wait to hear more about the game, and hope it reaches Indian shores unlike the original Rock Band!

Metal Gear Solid 4 Delayed in India

By kannu's on 11:47 AM

Filed Under:

Just as Indian gamers were getting over the debacle that was Grand Theft Auto IV’s delay, we now get word via Sameer Desai of Gamingindians.com that Metal Gear Solid 4 is not going to be released in India anytime soon (officially). In fact, rumor has it that the game may see the light of day over here only by the first week of July.

Once again this leaves us desperate gamers at the mercy of gray market distributors who are free to charge whatever they feel fit for this game (and God forbid they actually find out how sought after this game is).

As you all know, this isn’t the first time such a delay has taken place in India. High profile games like BioShock and Grand Theft Auto IV have been delayed here considerably while certain Ubisoft games like Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and Assassin’s Creed have only released in India on the PC eons after their international release dates.

The bottom line over here is that if you’re a gamer living in India we strongly suggest you DO NOT depend on local distributors for your gaming needs.

We’ll keep updating you about the game’s availability as and when we hear something ourselves.

Microsoft and Bungie will release two new maps for Halo 2 on the Xbox/ Xbox 360, later this month. Well, not completely new; Microsoft has expanded and improved their most popular Halo: Combat Evolved maps—Hang 'Em High and Derelict, and will make them available for purchase on the Xbox Live Marketplace on 17th April. You'll be able to purchase and download the game through your in-game menu for USD $4. Here's what Bungie's website had to say about this move:

"…to make sure that we didn’t just slap together a port of an old map, but rather, lovingly craft a last salute to Halo 2 multiplayer as we move toward Halo 3 in the fall.

Lots of folks are asking us in direct terms, "why make maps for Halo 2, when Halo 3 is just around the corner?" Well, because we love Halo 2 and we love our fans. They’ve continued to play Halo 2 solidly for three years, in vast numbers, and we owe them it."

Yamaha Gladiator, the latest 125 cc bike from Yamaha Motor India, is out in the market. Yamaha unveiled the 5-speed 'fun bike' in New Delhi on Wednesday. The Yamaha Gladiator will be up against the leaders in the 125 cc executive segment dominated by hero Honda Super Splendor and the Bajaj DTSi.

Yamaha Gladiator standard version will come for at Rs 41,990 ex-Delhi, while the Gladiator DX is tagged at Rs 44,990.

The Yamaha Gladiator DX will have electric start and 240 mm front disc brakes, while the standard Yamaha Gladiator will come with drum brakes and kickstart.

The 11 PS, four stroke bike is the first in a line of three bikes which Yamaha India plans to launch this year.

Said Yamaha Motor India CEO and managing director Tomotaka Ishikawa: “True to Yamaha’s belief of setting new benchmarks by offering products that surpass customer expectations, the Gladiator will kick start a new biking lifestyle in the Indian market. Developed as a next generation fun bike, Gladiator brings with it the added values of superb performance, new styling, greater handling and comfort” .

Its 125 cc single cylinder churns out a maximum power output of 8.0kW (11 PS) at 7,500 rpm and a max torque of 10.4 Nm (1.06 kgf-m) at 6,500 rpm, a notch above most bikes in the category. Moreover, the bike can be started in any gear and offer excellent corner handling. Yamaha claimed that the Gladiator bike will be able to give a mileage of 67 kmpl in actual city conditions.

The Yamaha Gladiator power unit is characterized by its 5 speed transmission, a first for any executive category bike, with optimized gear ratios. The smooth transition of gears makes it possible to bring out optimum torque throughout the torque-band. Yamaha claims that the Gladiator is equally at ease in stop and start conditions of urban traffic and the open highways. Yamaha has also started a new campaign to promote the Yamaha Gladiator in India.

At the launch of Yamaha Gladiator in India, company officials also announced said that Yamaha plans to sell 4 lakh bikes in India this year and six lakhs next. Yamaha will also be setting up a new plant to manufacture two wheelers in India between 2008 and 2010. Yamaha also has plans to foray into the scooter segment, for which a feasibility survey is under way.

Yamaha, which was one of the pathbreakers in the 100cc category back in the eighties and early nineties has been steadily losing marketshare in the last few years. Now, it commands a small 4% of the two-wheeler market, which it hopes to raise to 10%.
